Beneath the Spanish moss, we sat,
Amidst the scorching heat of a hundred degrees.
The humidity clung, drenching all in sweat,
While cicadas hummed their fowl, rhythmic plea.
In the distance, birds took flight,
Their homes outlined against the blazing sun.
Together we admired the serene, silent land,
As clouds transformed from mild to gray, then black.
A drop in temperature, a long-awaited relief,
Brought smiles to both our faces, yours and mine.
With anticipation, we gazed upward,
Yearning for the earth's tearful embrace.
And then it came, relentless and inviting,
Rain pouring down, fulfilling our desires.
In that moment, we thanked God,
For granting our prayer, a dream come true.
As we lay there, bathed in His unwavering love,
Grateful for the blessing that drenched us from above.
